Khy-Wrap Safety Tips

Posted by kay kamal at 6:07 PM

Babywearing is a good thing, however if done wrongly will pose a hazard to the baby's  & parents' health. Here are some tips to keep in mind as to the safety concerns of this wrap.

Always make sure kaki berjuntai di cover ALL THE WAY to the knees, as pic below. This is to give baby a place to sit. like a comfy business class seat chair!

NOT like this where the kaki just dangles out of thin air unsupported ! He is practically sitting on his crotch! Also imagine the chaffing his little thighs will suffer.. kesian..

This is because the baby's spine is still not fully developed & putting pressure onto the spine is baaaaad... it poses a risk of later progressing into  Spondylolisthesis

Laways choose a carrier yang boleh cover all till the thighs okay, such as the Khy-Wrap! (huhu)

Also, it is important to NOT use baby carriers with baby facing outwards as such.. Reasons, again see that kesian dangling legs.. also, it may overstimulate ur baby causing him confusion & insomnia at nights.

Since the baby is made for us to carry them by embracing & loving them whilst doing so thus, by carrying front facing it will cause our back to suffer since we have to arch it awkwardly in order to compensate the peculiar shape we are carrying our babies with.

Kang tak pasal2 je kite kene pegi spital sbb sakit belakang tak kehabisan.. kesian.. muda muda da sakit belakang

By front facing jugak, it is hard for us to read our baby's cue.. if facing wearer (ikut pengalaman la).. Khayra did not have to cry to tell me she is hungry. Enough by me seeing her face & rasa her movements yang indicate dier uncomfortable. So takde la malu segan anak meraung2, kite terkapai2 & org dok sebok tolong pandang slack! (ye, timekasih.. kami tak perlu pandangan itu. A screaming baby is stressful enough)

Ni another thing, kalau pakai wrap ke, sling ke.. pls make sure ur baby's face is not fully covered (or shud i say smothered) by the fabric. Always ensure the nose is freely able to get fresh air & that you are able to see baby to monitor. (as such)

Use the mantra Look, Listen &; Feel for the baby's breathing.

Look for pergerakan pernafasan, make sure idung tak nampak sesak kembang kuncup & that the chest/back moves rhythmically & tak laju than biasa.

Listen for breathing, make sure takdak bunyik "krok..krok" or any bunyi sesak napas yang sewaktu dengannye. Pastikan dagu tak sampai mencecah dada cz it can obstruct the airway.

Feel for the warmth of air breathed out by ur lil one & the movements of her chest against you.

Position wise, make sure your baby is supported high enough for you to be able to kiss her head/face without memuncungkan mulut dgn melampai batas ataupon sehingga sakit leher menunduk.

Again, remember to Look, Listen & Feel ur baby. It makes a world of difference!
